Brut Nature 2012 · Champagne Louis Roederer

2012 was one of the most challenging years ever experienced in Champagne, which gave us grapes with unusual levels of maturity, resulting in rich wines, worthy of the greatest vintages in Champagne.

Originating from 10 hectares of vines growing in the clay soil of the Cumières hillsides and cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, this ""undosed"" champagne is the translation of a fresh wine in a sunny year. It resulted from the encounter between the designer Philippe Starck, Louis Roederer CEO Frédéric Rouzaud, and cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, who came up with the idea of creating, together, this wine of the terroir, soil and climate, the perfect illustration of the alliance between Man and Nature.

Brut Nature Blanc is a wine of light, contrasts and texture, associating the intense saline freshness of its terroir with the maturity of the vintage. This champagne is a celebration of the present moment, without compromise or approximation, borne of a lovely dynamic.

Tasting notes

After 6 years ageing in the bottle, Brut Nature Blanc reveals itself in its pure state, “undosed”, in a crisp-cut style, very true to the grape. You can enjoy it now, paired with a refined cuisine with saline flavours.

Ripe fruit, vine peach and candied lemon, toasted notes of hazelnut and baked apple come through on the nose, creating a delicious first impression. The contrast continues with a velvety texture and an almost saline freshness and continues the dialogue into the deep, crystalline finish.

“The 2012 vintage gave us the very best material: juicy, concentrated grapes with unusual levels of maturity resulting in rich, full-bodied wines worthy of the greatest vintages in Champagne.”
Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon,
Cellar Master

Ageing potential

Our champagnes undergo an extended period of ageing to allow them to gently evolve and mature, gaining in structure and depth, whilst developing highly nuanced aromas over the years.

You may enjoy them in the purity and chalky freshness of their youth or, if you appreciate more mature champagnes, wait a few more years or even decades for their candied, spicy notes to emerge. Our champagnes have a long future ahead of them and their destiny is in your hands!

" Ample and fleshy, with its generous core of concentrated and delicately sun-kissed fruit girdled by brisk acids and undeniable mineral grip."
