This particularly warm, generous, mature and gentle year produced an exuberant array of bright fruit flavours. It was a year of constant questioning, in which the rosé found the perfect direction to take: juicy, intense fruit, a vinous, crunchy, almost tannic texture, combined with a touch of spice and freshness.

Tasting notes
With its lovely bouquet of tart red fruit combined with chalky and toasted almond notes, this champagne has found its perfect direction. The powerful, vinous structure gives the impression of a perfectly honed wine with a caressingly soft mouthfeel. This champagne gives itself over immediately and with no holds barred, revealing an almost sensual softness and a savoury finish with a slight ripe and tannic bitterness.
“The particularly warm, mature 1998 helped the Pinot Noir grapes to reach perfect maturity. They come through here in their powerful, vinous and almost tannic texture!”

Ageing potential
Having been carefully preserved for many long years in the complete darkness of the Louis Roederer cellars, in perfect temperature and humidity conditions, these vintage champagnes are now reaching the peak of their maturity, the very apex of their potential.
