2013 was a late vintage. We had not seen this in Champagne for many years... But good things come to those who wait, and the glorious summer allowed the Pinots noirs and Chardonnays to ripen perfectly. The October harvest gave birth to elegant wines of pronounced freshness and a classic character, perfect qualities with which to craft this powerful and spicy vintage.
This champagne, from the Domaine Louis Roederer in the Montagne de Reims, is a magnificent blend of the Pinot noirs from Verzy, on a north-east-facing plot, and the Chardonnays from Chouilly, on a south-east-facing plot. Only a few dozen plots were required to bring this vintage to life... Every year is a challenge and only the best years allow us to produce a vintage champagne. Vintage is therefore the testimony of an exceptional year.
Aged for over 5 years in the cellars, this champagne is an invitation to enjoyment, pleasure and good conversation. The reflection of a single year, you will savour its unforgettably elegant character.

Tasting notes
With its subtle and luscious character, where freshness and lightness always come through, balancing the richness of the wine, this Vintage is unique. The power and maturity of the Verzy Pinot noir shape its identity with its notes of orchard fruit, concentrated pear and citrus fruit, and sweet, slightly-honeyed flowers. Endowed with a great freshness, it shows its finest aromas and will be at its best when served with food.
“It is all the power and maturity of Verzy Pinot noir that is sought here and which is expressed in a fruity and mineral character.”

Ageing potential
Our champagnes undergo an extended period of ageing to allow them to gently evolve and mature, gaining in structure and depth, whilst developing highly nuanced aromas over the years.
You may enjoy them in the purity and chalky freshness of their youth or, if you appreciate more mature champagnes, wait a few more years or even decades for their candied, spicy notes to emerge. Our champagnes have a long future ahead of them and their destiny is in your hands!

"A polished Champagne, sleek and mouthwatering, with a lovely, mineral-laced underpinning to the finely knit flavors of star fruit, anise, crushed raspberry and slivered almond."

"Seamless and complete, this is an over-performing vintage that puts many prestige cuvées to shame. Built to age, it will reward patience."
