Late Release 1999 · Champagne Louis Roederer

A stormy and windy year. The season got off to a very early start and was followed by a dry and sunny summer. The grapes were fortunately spared the damage from the heavy rain during the harvest period. The 1999 vintage gave us powerful, concentrated, generous, seductive and luscious wines, fresh on entry to the palate and followed by soft notes of fruit and sweet spice.

Tasting notes

The nose releases fine and very fresh toasted aromas combined with notes of red and candied citrus fruit. The bouquet gains complexity upon aeration to reveal dried fruit intertwined with warm notes of spice. The still lively bubbles underpin a soft, creamy mouthfeel with bewitching fragrances. This champagne from a warm year oozes charm with its ripe, tannic and energetic finish, which only accentuates the sensation of freshness.

“This champagne oozes charm with its delectable intensity, delicate softness and a trace of subtle bitterness that elongates the soft and smooth finish.”
Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon,
Cellar Master

Ageing potential

Having been carefully preserved for many long years in the complete darkness of the Louis Roederer cellars, in perfect temperature and humidity conditions, these vintage champagnes are now reaching the peak of their maturity, the very apex of their potential.
